John Muir School students created this tour as part of a collaboration between the City of Long Beach Development Services Department and Long Beach Unified School District. Students researched historical points of interest and charted out the walking route for this tour.
The City of Long Beach conducted community engagement as part of its Historic Context Statement update. These documents are important resources that will guide future planning and land-use decisions and will allow those decisions to be rooted in a deeper understanding of the City’s history and evolution, including the communities of color that have helped shape it.
