About the German Pavilion. The German Pavilion is the attraction of the city of Barcelona that we are now heading to. And along the way, we decided to prepare you for its acceptance and perception. Of course, Barcelona, of course, is the city of Gaudi, but there are stubborn pilgrims who begin its examination from the German Pavilion, and we will finish our tour with it. National pavilions of countries have always been their hallmarks at world exhibitions. And judging by the pavilion at the 1929 World's Fair, Germany looked beautiful, free and rich. It was built by the great architect of the last century. It was a German Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886-1969). The pavilion existed three months and disappeared, leaving behind only plans and photographs. But in the 1980s, Catalan architects decided to restore the pavilion. And they did it with exceptional accuracy and thoroughness. Hitler did a lot for us to remember Germany by gigantomania in construction, and large and impressive concrete buildings were welcomed. And this is a message from those times when the Germans were the freest people of Europe. In the Weimar Republic (1919-1933) there were many talents who later, saving the body and soul, traveled around the world, including Mies van der Rohe. Here he showed that modernism can be devilishly wasteful. Currently, the pavilion building is a museum. Highly recommended for a visit. Most of the pavilion is visible from the outside, and you pay only for the inside. But an external examination will not leave you indifferent. And now, let's see everything for ourselves.
