The Alberche river is a river in the Iberian Peninsula that flows to the right of the Tagus, which begins at the top of the Sierra de Gredos, runs through the autonomous communities of Castilla y León, Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha, to finish ending at the height of Talavera de la Reina, province of Toledo. It runs through a 177 km trajectory with an approximate average flow of 14.70 m3 / s.
The Alberche river passes through Escalona surrounding the town and passing at the foot of the Castle, which means that we can make a route along its banks, such as those described below, and where along its route we can observe a variety of flora and fauna.
Left margin route: It is a route of easy technical difficulty, 2.4 km with hardly any unevenness and with dream views. Finish this route in a wooden viewpoint over the Alberche river, although you can also continue along the path.
- Right bank route: It is a 4.16 km route, of moderate technical difficulty, not suitable for everyone, since the accesses to the river have a steep slope. This route runs through the town of Escalona and the walk along the Alberche river. A walk with spectacular views. It can also be done by bike, but taking care with some section of the road at the entrances to the river.
In the audio you can hear a more detailed explanation of the flora and fauna that you can find if you take any of the routes described above.
