There are two main bus stations in Batumi where you can depart to various cities in Georgia and beyond. The main one is located on 1 Mayakovski Street from where the majority of marshutkas head to Adjara’s various settlements, such as Kobuleti, Khulo, and Sarpi. Marshutkas departing for Trabzon (8 EUR) and Rize (6 EUR) also leave from there.
This bus station is referred to as “the Old Station” and occupies an area where Mantashev, one of the world’s richest people at the beginning of the 20th century, had an oil factory. A pillar commemorating Mantashev’s heritage stands in the front of the yard. As it was placed during the Communist regime, a focus is placed on the struggle of the workers against the capitalists and the role of Stalin in organizing the strike in 1901-1902.
The other station is located on 1 Gogol Street (+995 555 71 77 28; +995 422 24 26 12), from where Turks operate the big Metro buses heading out for Tbilisi, including during night-time hours. These buses offer Wi-Fi, tea/coffee and TV on board. Departures for Tbilisi are at 09:00, 12:00, 15:00, 24:00, 01:00 (8.2 EUR; 6 hrs). They also run to Zugdidi (5 EUR), Istanbul (20-30 EUR), Antalya (25 EUR), Trabzon (10 EUR) and some other cities in Turkey.
