The 55,573 aircrew from Britain, Czechoslovakia, Poland and the countries of the Commonwealth, including 10,000 from Canada, who died in World War II are remembered in the Air Force Bomber Memorial by sculptor Philip Jackson. It was unveiled by HM Queen Elizabeth in 2012. It is made of aluminium from the wreckage of a Royal Canadian Air Force Halifax bomber collected from a bog in Belgium.
