The public park is Borjomi’s main attraction, together with the small street leading to it. This park contains the spring where mineral water Borjomi was first discovered and later production established. After the bottling company moved its manufacturing premises elsewhere, the land was given to the town.
Inside and near the entrance to the park there is a tap from which visitors can fill their water bottles. The tap runs from the same springs used by the original bottling company. The water is considered to have curative properties, but is warm and tastes and smells rusty and sulfurous – a far cry from the bottled Borjomi sold in shops!
The park is a basic clean green park, with some old amusement rides where one can spend a fun day especially with kids. The most memorable pastime is taking a swim in the sulfur pool enjoyed by the Romanov royal family, or at least the Tsar's brother Georgy, located some 20 minutes from the entrance at the other end from entrance. If planning a swim, bring a swimsuit, towel and bag for wet clothes.
