BUNK'ART 2 is the latest museum opened in Tirana.
It opened on November 17, in the framework of the National Liberation Day of Tirana.
Space occupied by the bunker is about 1,000 square meters (1,077 square meters) with reinforced concrete walls up to 2.4 meters (8 meters) thick.
Its primary function in the communist period was the defense.
Built between 1981 and 1986 to house elite police and interior ministry staff in the event of a nuclear attack.
Bunkart1 and Bunkart2 were part of hundreds of bunkers built on the site as fortifications for Enver Hoxha's dictatorial regime in order to be prepared for fear that a US attack might come.
Some interesting facts you would like to know about Bunk'Art2 :
1) At one time there were rumored to be as many as 700,000, but the government says 175,000 were built.
2) The museum holds photographs and equipment that illustrate the political persecution of some 100,000 Albanians from 1945 until 1991.
3) Reaches a thickness of 240 cm.
