In 1535, when Conquistadors had already captured the city of Cusco, Manco Inca, ruler designated by the Spaniards decided to up rise by raising a large army with which he could siege the city for many months. After bloody battles the Indians were forced to retreat and dug in Sacsaywaman sanctuary for more than 20 days; the brave warrior Cahuide died there who according to the chroniclers, was in charge of the defense of the last tower.
