1525, who was an engineer, architect and sculptor. In 1484 he worked as a sculptor in the Como cathedral factory. In 1510 we also find him in Balerna with sculptures in the former Baptistery. Four years later, in 1514, he designed the Collegiate Church in Bellinzona. "Collegiate" means that the church was run by an ensemble, a college of religious. In 1517 he also designed the façade of Lugano Cathedral.
Returning to the Collegiate Church, the church is dedicated to St. Peter and St. Stephen
and as we see it today it dates back to around 1500.
At the time it was built, there was no bishop in Ticino, but Bellinzona was under the Bishop of Como. The Capriasca valley, the Riviera, the Leventina and the Blenio valley were under the Bishop of Milan. The territories that had the bishop of Milan had their carnival a week later than Bellinzona (Ambrosian rite and Como rite).
