1. Since 1991, the Spanish Grand Prix, one of the world's oldest races, has been held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, located north of Barcelona in the town of Montmeló.
2. The track in Montmeló was constructed for the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992. The stadium was host to the start and finish of the road bicycle competitions.
3. The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is a favorite venue for off-season Formula 1 tests.
4. In 2013, as a result of the conclusion of a sponsorship deal with the Barcelona City Council, the word Barcelona was added to the name of the Circuit de Catalunya.
