The «Entrée» is one of the long-lasting favourites of VDNKh. There have been circus performances for kids here since the 1990s. A word about this odd name “chapiteau” – a French word that’s used in Russian with two quite different meanings. The first means a mobile circus, in a tent that looks like a canvas hat or chapeau. But it can also mean the “capital” or topmost stone of a architectural column. While you are walking around VDNKh, look out for those topmost stones – very often they are decorated with wheatsheaves, fields of fruit, or even pinecones.
