Desire Path

Stop #3:

As you look before you, you may think you are just looking at a path, but this isn’t just any path. What you are looking at my friends, is the desired path. Desire paths can be defined as paths “created as a consequence of erosion caused by human or animal foot traffic. [Such paths] usually represent the shortest or most easily navigated route between an origin and destination.“ You see, this path was not intentional at all, rather it is a direct environmental impact caused by humans for the sake of convenience. This path cuts through the green-carpeted soil, leading into a street, none other than East Lake Drive. In other words, the best way I can help you all understand the significance of human-caused habitat loss is by prompting you to envision what this trail could have looked like, if we did our part in mitigating habitat loss, by prioritizing the preservation of our green spaces. Unfortunately, this path is just one of the many desired paths that have formed around the park.; At this rate who is to say what the park will look like in the next 10 years.
