Built in 1883, the Emu Plains Railway Station is a substantial three story building constructed of bricks and sandstone. Emu Plains Station was known as the gateway to the Blue Mountains and played a central role in the expansion of the Nepean area. The current building replaced a smaller station that was completed in 1868, west of Old Bathurst Road.
