If you look down to the pavement you will see a commemorative bronze plaque for Ennis H Watson, located at the entrance to Madrid Street on Templemore Avenue. It is one of two identical plaques for Ennis H Watson, with the other being located at the opposite end of Madrid Street on the other side of the peace wall in Short Strand. The plaque reads: “Ennis H Watson, Apprentice Electrician at Harland & Wolff, lived in this street. He was a member of the company’s Guarantee Group for RMS Titanic and lost his life on the voyage.”  It is one of nine Titanic Heritage Plaques installed in Belfast in 2012 to commemorate the Guarantee Group who sailed on the Titanic’s maiden voyage to attend to any minor finishing faults and all of whom lost their lives when the ship sank. In addition to memorialising Ennis H Watson, it preserves the link between Madrid Street and the Titanic, and symbolises the industrial spirit of the people of Belfast who worked on the Titanic by paying tribute to one of the few chosen for a prestigious role in the Guarantee Group.

After viewing the plaque, continue down Templemore Avenue.
