The ethno-memorial complex "Map of Kazakhstan" Atameken "is a unique open-air museum complex. The complex was opened on September 8 initiatedby the First President of Kazakhstan NursultanNazarbayev. The word "Atameken" in Kazakh language means “Land of Forefathers”.

The main purpose of the creation and activities of the Atameken ethno complex is to ensure the safety, accessibility and familiarization of the population with historical, cultural and spiritual values, to promote the achievements of Kazakhstani culture, reflect the colors of all natural zones and economic achievements of Kazakhstan, preserve and enhance cultural values.

"Atameken" is a geographical territory of the country in miniature area of ​​1.7 hectares. The museum houses miniature copies of the natural and architectural sights of cities in the country.

On a conditional map of the country, There you’ll see the country's 17 regions and 3 major cities – Astana, Almaty and Shymkent.

The most significant sights of Kazakhstan, the nature and landscapes, architecture, and transport networks of the country can be clearly seen on the map too. An interesting part of the Atameken Map of Kazakhstan is the decorative model of the Caspian Sea.

There are few similar museums in the world, and one of them is located in the capital of Kazakhstan. The appearance of a live "map" is regularly supplemented with new exhibits, taking into account real changes.
