Fish market of Mazara del Vallo
Overview

Do you know that Mazara is one of the most important and well-known fishing ports in the Mediterranean? Its harbor hosts a fleet of about 300 large deep sea trawlers and more than 3,000 boats.

Much of the economy is based on fishing and it is attractive to those who seek for excellence of such product. Many harbor restaurants have great fish: first of all, the precious red shrimp of Mazara.

The fish market is beautiful: entire swordfish dominate the market, groupers, sea bream, mussels and clams, octopus and other seafood. Blue fish abounds just like already cleaned sardines, mackerel, long silvery fish spatula and capon.

The shrimp, those big red ones from Mazara and the smaller ones often already peeled.
