Keep following the path as it bends. You see the large red belfry construction over to your right. It’s one of two belfry here on Skansen, a perfect copy of one standing in Jämtland. It was built right here in 1892. Did you know most churches used to have a free-standing belfry? To stick them up under the church steeple was an idea that came later. A belfry was seen as a great waste of timber. Timber was expensive!
