From 1668 until 1970, when the Hudson’s Bay Company became a Canadian corporation, London was the centre of its business. While the Head Office building was called “Hudson Bay House” from its establishment, its location has moved a number of times over the years. The final incarnation of Hudson Bay House can still be found at 60-62-64 Bishopsgate. The building was designed by Mewes and Davis and built in 1926 and features carvings “of North American design”, and a weather vane in the shape of a gold beaver on top of its cupola.
