The aviation college building is situated on Lenin street, 5a. It was built in 1801 by Irkutsk architect Anton Ivanovich Losev.  in the building was A Folks’ Schools was supposed to be located in this building. In 1805 the number of students grew and the building was converted into Men’s Classical Gymnasium. In 1846 architect Andrei Vasilievich Vasilev made the building bigger by annexing side wings. In 1909-1910 Vladimir Rassushin (an architect) added the north wing to the building. In 1920 the third floor was added to the construction. The whole edifice looks like Russian letter “Д”on the plan. There is an interior yard in the construction. In 1920s Soviet Party School worked here along with the Higher Communistic Agricultural School. In 1930s some faculties of Siberian Mining University were located here and Irkutsk Aviation College which was founded in 1935. During the Great Civil War the building was equipped by cartridge machines evacuated from Leningrad factory № 540. Mostly women and children operated those machines. Irkutsk Aviation School has been located in this building after the war was over.
