Karlaplan is a star site with a park and a fountain in Östermalm in central Stockholm, it was built in 1896 and it's called like that in honor of all Swedish Kings called Karl.

In 1866, the model with a star seat and from there radiating avenues came from, among others, Place de l'Etoile in Paris. Karlaplan started to be built in 1896 with lawn and shrubs in Östermalm. During the First World War the planting was supplemented with chestnuts and poplar and the lawn was seededfor vegetable cultivation.

In 1930, the fountain basin began to be constructed. Around the pond, several rows of avenue trees and hedge plants were planted with lawns in between. The powerful fountain soon became a benchmark for cityzens and tourists.

Under the park passes the subway that was inaugurated on 2 September 1967 , as well as all the other stations included in the Östermalmstorg- Ropsten section.

The platform is located at a depth of 23 meters below ground level. The design of the station was entrusted to the architect Olov Blomkvist, while the decorations were made by the painter Tor Hörlin and the photographer Larseric Vänerlöf, who made a photographic installation of 96 meters in length.
