Köpmangatan

The name of this street is Köpmangatan – the Salesmens’ Street. It’s one of the oldest streets in Stockholm. A couple of hundred years ago this street was full of small booths where you could buy food, handicrafts and other things. Remember the wall that surrounded Stockholm? It lay at the end of this street. One of the gates you could enter through
was here. Today, if you follow this street from Stortorget you’ll only get halfway to the embankment, but in the old days the water went all the way up to the wall.
