On a spit of land extending into the southwestern corner of Balkhash, Kuygan is particularly popular amongst fishing enthusiasts hoping to land the big catch. The Kuygan Fishing Club (yes... that's KFC for short; https://www.instagram.com/kuygan_fishing_club/ hosts visitors for everything from one-off boat trips to all-inclusive packages. One of four fishing communes in the village, a visit is equally interesting for sport or for cultural insight into the disappearing communities along Balkash's shores.
Kuygan can be accessed from a turnoff on the M-36 highway in Kanshengel 44.319437, 75.549536, 650km from Balkhash city.
