Liberation monument

The large boulder in Kenaupark was placed there in memory of the Liberation. The Dutch people celebrated the end of the war exuberantly with Liberation parties and Orange festivities. Each year on 4 May we observe two minutes of silence to remember the dead, the value of freedom, democracy and human rights. In Haarlem, this is followed by the Memorial Concert in the Haarlemmerhout. On 5 May we celebrate freedom in the Netherlands. And in Haarlem we have been celebrating this since 1980 with the Liberation Festival.
