LITERARY-MEMORIAL HOUSE-MUSEUM OF F.M. DOSTOEVSKY
Address: Semey, st. Dostoevsky, 118.
Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky is associated with our city by the years of exile, which lasted from 1854 to 1859. In 1965, the city library No. 15 named after F.M.Dostoevsky was opened in the house where the writer lived. In 1969, Dostoevsky's apartment museum welcomed visitors for the first time. On May 7, 1971, to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian writer, the museum was transformed into a literary-memorial museum of F.M. Dostoevsky. According to the project of the architect V.F. Vlasov, a modern extension was made in the form of a half-open book. At the entrance there is a paired bronze sculpture "Ch. Valikhanov and FM Dostoevsky", the author of which is the sculptor DG Elbakidze. Among the exhibits of the museum are the first editions of the novels of the writer "Crime and Punishment" (1867), "Teenager" (1876), "The Brothers Karamazov" (1881) and other works.
