Lubang Arang Batu is one of the many coal mine tunnels that can be found in this forest hill and the only one open to public. These mines are inoperative and have long been abandoned, however, you’ll be able to see the gaping entrance beckoning you to come see a fragment of its history. To be able to stand in front of the tunnel entrance, you’ll have to walk along a thin ridge or jump over a short gap where a bit of ground has separated. The tunnel slopes steeply down into darkness. Shining a light through, the path bends to one way and disappears. Due to its structure, this tunnel has collapsed and there is no way through.
Picture taking a couple of metres into the tunnel is allowed and a knotted rope has been left there for visitors to grab onto but refrain from doing so after or during rainfall as the surface may become muddy and slippery.
