Mataleñas suburb is located in the north-west of the city. Next to the peninsula of the smaller headland and Cueto’s neighborhood. Matalena’s beach is beautiful, the most interested detail of this beach is that its surrounded by an incredible rock cliff and with a wonderful environment. The cliff is very big, it haves a height of forty metres and a length of one hundred and twenty five metres approximately. The rocks are flats and are very impressive, you can see that the beach is very welcoming and relaxing. It haves gold and smooth sand and calm waves. Mataleñas beach haves showers and toilets in the sand, very near the tourist zone and care.The beach haves a very strict rules, play with balls, do aquatic sports, dogs and all types of animals, sail with jet ski or boats and throw rubbish is banned.
The beach is guard by two lifeguards, only in the summer, between eleven o’clock of the morning and eight o’clock of the evening. If you need them you can go the tower, located in the centre of the beach. Behind the tower there is a flag. That flag indicates the riskiness of the waves, if the flag is green as today it means that the waves are calm and it’s safe to have dip. Near the coast you can see the specific flora and fauna of Cantabria coast, that magnific landscape. It haves an amazing relaxing and transparent water. This water is full of small and harmless fishes. The beach is not deep you can stay relaxed in it. This beach is not very famous, in the summer you can stay peaceful in it, it’s very recommendable.
