The mine called “Mina de s’Abeurador” is a mine fountain or “qanat”, a hydraulic infrastructure which probably dates back to the Islamic age, although it was not documented until the 14th century. It is a construction in the form of a tunnel with stone lining in its interior, with the aim to search for water. The place where the water emerges is known as the “ull de la font” (the eye of the fountain). By means of this hydraulic system, the town’s population in that age was able to extract and use the underground water for both consumption and irrigation.
