Near the memorial to the soldiers killed in the World War II there is a monument to the district residents who took part in Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident disaster relief operations. The basement of the monument is an irregularly-shaped boulder. It looks as if a pillar of fire was coming out of it. The fire is a symbol of the explosion at the 4th nuclear reactor at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. The image can also be interpreted as the fire of sacrifice: the so called “liquidators” sacrificed their lives and health in order to stop radioactive contamination.
On the monument’s basement there is a black plaque with an inscription engraved on it in golden letters.
