Milepost 92
Elevation 2,975 feet.

The Moormans River Overlook offers a really lovely 180-degree view highlighting the Sugar Hollow Reservoir, center stage. Built in 1946, this Charlottesville reservoir is fed by the North and South Forks of the Moormans River which is a particularly clean source of water as it originates in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The North Fork runs along the base of Pasture Fence Mt. as it traverses through Via Hollow, named for the family that lived in this area before being displaced when the Park was created in the 1930s.

The river itself is named for Charles Moorman and his son Thomas, who owned and patented 750 acres along the river in the early 18th century.  Pasture Fence Mountain was reputedly named in the same period because, when first settled, it was covered with bluegrass, a lush native grass good for foraging animals, prompting the new owners to fence if off for grazing.
