Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Building Outdoor Foyer: True Paintings
Overview

As you come by the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Building, step into the outdoor foyer of this beautiful building.  The reason for this stop is the murals you see on the walls, celebrating the construction workers who built the communication system back in the day.  The artist once again is Allen Tupper True, the same fellow whose work we saw as Prospector in Civic Center Park.  The reason I like his style is the simple, elegant detail of the works, combined with the contrasting color schemes in each image.  They match this Gothic building, completed just before the stock market crash of 1929, beautifully.

Peek in the windows, and you’ll see a bit of the beauty of the building as a whole, with its ornate wood and stone work.  Sadly, no public entrance is allowed, as you’ll see by the guard desk just beyond the revolving doors.

Bonus!  You get to see the last two public telephone booths in Denver.

Now let’s exit the foyer, turn right, and finish the short walk to the corner of 14th and Curtis.  Cross to the other side of 14th Street and you’re looking at the corner of the Denver Municipal Auditorium.  Head up the steps to your right, where the building ends, and meander over to the statues of the man and woman.
