Neosho National Fish Hatchery
Overview

The oldest National Fish Hatchery in the United States, in operation since 1888, the hatchery operates as a lively and beautiful public space, but also as a research institute for rehabilitation and revitalization of native fish and aquatic species. The Neosho National Fish Hatchery primarily raises Rainbow Trout and the endangered Pallid Sturgeon, but have recently partnered with Missouri State University to begin recovery efforts for the endangered Fat Mucket Mussels as well.

Upon entering the grounds, the area is neatly divided by pools with walk-ways and open spaces for gathering or hanging out. By exploring the outdoor areas, you can see smaller sized trout in the Raceways near the center of the complex, or head to the research facility where you can get an up-close view of the splendid multi-color, Rainbow Trout. There are many more exhibits and informational items in the Visitor's Center at the entrance to the Hatchery.

Visitor Center and Park Hours:
Mon-Fri: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Sat-Sun: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
