The Gosford Court House was built in 1849 and is one of the oldest buildings on the central coast. It hold pride of place in the heart of Gosford early settlement was and the reliance on steamboats for transportation. on the right of it is the Police  station. There are strong ties of the architectural design as the School of Arts with the use of the natural sandstone, that was acquired from the quarry.

 Associated with early settlement and growth of Gosford region the.Courthouse contained a courtroom and three other rooms, connected to a three cell lock-up by walled, open-air exercise yard. Substantial court premises added to north side in 1890's and Old Courthouse became lock-up keeper's residence.
