Pedestrian Area – San Martin Street, between Corrientes and Buenos Aires Streets.
Overview
Reviews 0

This walk is situated in the downtown area and was inaugurated on December 15, 2011 with the purpose of embellishing the main street of our town. Numerous public performances for the whole family take place here.

Cafés are relevant in this area. Among them, we can find one of the most traditional cafés in town, La Madrileña, which has always been located in the same building, at San Martín 80, since it first opened in 1944. It was the favorite meeting place for artists who took part in the initial years of the Festival de Peñas. Daniel Altamirano, a national singer-songwriter, composed Los Amantes de Córdoba here, inspired by a romance.

It should be noted that this sector had already been a pedestrian area during the 1970s, but it was reopened for traffic in 1978.
