So, in order to get to the first stop of this tour, Peu del Funicular, you need to take line S1 or S2 from Placa Catalunya. From there, it will take approximately 20 minutes to get to Peu del Funicular station. Here’s a very critical tip to get off at this station since it’ has such a small platform. If you’re on either the very front or the very latest section of the train, you’ll be not able to get off at this station. So, it’s very important to stay in the middle section of the train. After getting off, you’ll find an elevator for the old and people carrying bicycles. You can also take that elevator but there’s stairs that takes you to another platform for the funicular. You’ve just been connected to Vallvidrera Inferior station. Funicular from here will take you up to Vallvidrera Superior station. This might be a little bit tricky but you’ll find it soon.

This funicular has been operating since 1906. Since then, it has been fully functioning as the commuter connecting the city of Barcelona and the residents of Valle region (Ingrid 2016). Its total length is 729m and can carry 50 passengers each time. There are two funiculars operating and it’s fully automatically operated. It’s been said that it will take 2 minutes according to some reviews on webpages, but it took nearly 5 minutes every time I tried. This line started to belong to FGC network in 1981 and finished its renovation in 1998 (Wikipedia 2017).

Although it’s primary function is a commuter for residents of Valles region, it offers the best view among all three funiculars in Barcelona. View is wider, higher, and clear. On top of that, it’s for free. So, I recommend you to just enjoy your view for the five minutes as if you’re riding any equipment in amusement park.
