The Hatheway House was bult by Shem Burbank in the Georgian style. After the Revolution, Oliver Phelps added two wings and a third floor with gambrel roof. Inside are original 18th century wallpapers and an outstanding collection of period furniture. In 1971, the house was opened to the public as a museum of the Antiquarian and Landmarks Society, now Connecticut Landmarks, a statewide non profit historical group.
