This is our start point; we are now situated in Plaza Ibiza, the principal square of this neighborhood Horta. Horta is situated in the north, elevated part of Barcelona, belonging to the Horta-Guinardó district. Horta was independent until 1904 when it was added to the Catalan capital. During the XIV century nobles and merchants inhabited it. The name of Plaza Ibiza was just until 1907, before that, the square was name Plaza Progreso or Plaza Mercado due to the activities that took place there, where people went there to sell different farm products.
In 1777 a building was built giving the structure to the plaza and special parties took place there. Right now you can find an old nuclei is situated around Plaza Ibiza and the other areas of the neighborhood show family housing. For many years the Plaza was a meeting point and was a place where people who lived in the mountains could take different buses. These buses will go for example to the residence Valle de Hebrón or Hogares Mundet.
1967 was a turning point when they inaugurate the Metro station, connecting the neighborhood to the city.
Now we need to head to the exit of this metro, taking the road Carrer de Pere Pau, when you get to this metro station continue waliking in Carrer Lisboa and turning right in Carrer de Porto towards our second point.
