In the middle of the XIX century, St.Petersburg count Kushelev bought a mansion, for the arrangement of which he invited Andrey Shtakenshneyder – the imperial court’s architect. From the western side of the mansion was placed an English landscape park, view hills and pounds were arranged. The mansion became an exemplary for many people who studied management of garden household. Later, the mansion was bought by banker Konstantin Polezhaev, and the park got the name of its new owners.
During the war the park had been crossed by the Leningrad’s defend line. In honor of the events of the war, 900 birches were planted along the frontier line as a symbol of the experienced siege. This birch grove is called the Alley of Glory.
