Idealized by the 1995 strategic plan, the project for the rehabilitation of the city's riverfront, it already stands as a new centrality of the city of Viana do Castelo.

The architect Fernando Távora, entitled as "father" of the Oporto School of Architecture conceived and designed the buildings.

Clean and typical architecture like the “Escola do Porto“ the two buildings have a rectangular plan and surrounded by a ground floor gallery, with about 3,130 square meters, this architectural set includes the building of the Tourist Office, designed by architect Bernardo Távora.

The square is composed of two buildings these same ones with two floors being the lower floor destined to technical services (offices, etc).
