57 Gorkogo Street
In 2020, a super-modern high-tech building of the Russian Copper Company Headquarters designed by the famous British Foster + Partners Studio, suddenly appeared in old red-brick Gorkogo Street. As an exclamation mark on the street line, this building differs from the neighbouring low-rise mansions both in its unusual style and height. The building catches the eye from afar when the "copper crystals" of its facade spectacularly reflect the sunlight.
The building already has some folk names. The Copper King's Tower has 15 floors. Its height is 87.5 metres. The first floor has a large lobby. The last two floors house a conference room and the offices of the company's president, chairman, and vice presidents.
The building has an unusual facade resembling the chemical structure of copper. That is why the residents also nicknamed the RCC Headquarters Pineapple. Four-sided "crystals" of the facade are made of glass and stainless steel painted in copper. The slope of each facet is made in such a way that the high summer Ural sun does not heat up the inner office space too much. In contrast, the low winter sun provides warmth and illumination.
The RCC Headquarters can rightfully be considered one of the most striking and interesting modern architectural objects in Ekaterinburg.
