The embankment is a prominent structure that connects the Volga river and the city of Samara. Being 4.5km in length, the Samara embankment is the longest on the Volga river, and Volga beaches are rightly called “golden sands” of the Volga region. The embankment is divided into four sections, according to construction stages.
The third construction stage of the embankment – the section extending from Nekrasovskaya street to the river port, i.e. the immediate continuation of the first stage embankment, took place after the new river port wasput into operation in 1973.
