Welcome to the train station of Sant Andreu Condal!
This train stration represents the industrialization and the growing importance of the district to the city of Barcelona. It first functioned as a connecting stop to the train from Barcelona to Granollers, in 1854, because of its industrial importance. Sant Andreu Comtal is one of the landmarks in the Sant Andreu de Palomar because if its history. Officially, this station is the oldest still operating station in the country. In order to reach Barcelona, while the terminus of the line was being built in the city, the concessionaire subscribed an agreement with the Railway Company of Barcelona to Granollers on September 2, 1859, through which the latter it gave a part of its terminal in the Paseo de la Aduana and a part of the station of the same company located in Sant Andreu Comtal, in addition to half of the factory works, in the distance between Montcada and Barcelona, with the purpose of being able to mount two routes, one for each company, with their own services. The only stations in Spain that are older than the Sant Andreu Comtal are the stations of Grau (Valencia) and Sant Felip de Xàtiva (València-Xàtiva line) that opened in 1852, but no longer operate
Another interesting fact about this station, in front of it, there is a tree. Many people just walked right by this three-thorn acacia without even noticing it. When the station was built in 1854, this tree was declared a "form an indisputable and testimonial part, eminently popular, of the historic core of the neighborhood”. In 1993, the acacia was declared a “good of local interest”
