Seria Town is an area located in the Belait district. The population noted in 2016 to be living in Belait is 3,625 people. Belait is a district rich with oil which began in the year 1929. Since then, it has been the nation’s centre of the oil and gas industry. This town has a variety of small stores, markets, bank services, tourist information centre, and restaurants; which includes Chinese, Indian and Italian cuisines as well as outdoor seating with interesting views.

The name Seria is an acronym for South East Reserved Industrial Area. In the past, Seria was known as Padang Berawa. The locals used to call it as Ladang Merpati Liar, which translates to Wild Pigeon Field. This refers to the area between Sungai Bera and Sungai Seria. However, this name is now rarely used.
