Trivia:
1. The circuit in the resort town of Sochi on the Black Sea is the first track in Russia that was built especially for F1 racing.
2. In October 2014 the first ever Russian Formula 1 events in the Russian Grand Prix were held in Sochi. Sochi had hosted the Olympic Games in the winter of the same year.
3. It is interesting to note that the 2014 race was not the first Russian Grand Prix. Prior to this events had been held in Russia twice in 1913 and 1914 in St. Petersburg.
4. One of the grandstands at the Sochi racetrack was named after Daniil Kvyat, a young Russian Formula 1 driver.
5. The track passes through the Sochi Olympic Park. The third turn winds around the plaza where the Olympic cauldron is installed.
6. Tilke GmbH & Co. KG, which is owned by the famous racetrack designer and architect Herman Tilke, designed the racetrack.

8. Nico Rosberg set the fastest lap record at the 2016 Sochi Grand Prix (1:39.094) while racing for Mercedes.
