The Poklevskiy-Kozyell House Museum and Exhibition Centre is the main administrative building and exhibition space of the Sverdlovsk Regional Museum of Local Lore, the most famous and largest museum in Ekaterinburg. This museum was founded in 1870 by members of the Ural Society of Natural Science Lovers, the best representatives of the city's intellectuals, who decided to tell Russia and the entire world about Ural history, geography, nature, and mineralogical wealth. In 2018, the museum was named after Onésime Clerc, the founder of the Society.

Today, the Sverdlovsk Regional Museum of Local Lore brings together a whole family of different museums, including historical, artistic, technical, natural history, and memorial museums. Eight museums are located in Ekaterinburg. Ten more museums can be found in the Sverdlovsk Region.

The mansion of the Poklevskiy-Kozells, who were rich noblemen, entrepreneurs and the "Ural vodka kings", was built in the 1870s in the eclectic style (the architect is unknown). It has retained its original interior details: rusticated masonry walls, marble main staircase and windowsills, wrought-iron porch and balusters, ceiling stucco, window and door openings, and fireplaces.

There you will learn the interesting history of the Poklevskiy-Kozells, their contribution to the development of Ural industry, trade, and culture. You will see the first exhibits of the Museum of the Ural Society of Natural Science Lovers and hear about its founders and donors. The museum halls preserve the interiors of the music room, business office, home library, and dining room of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The museum also organises outstanding temporary local history and art exhibitions, both using its own collections and with the help of major Russian museums and private collectors.
