The Sá de Miranda Theater was inaugurated on April 29th 1885. Its construction was due to the efforts of a group of personalities from Vianópolis who, in 1879, formed the Companhia Fomentadora Vianense with the objective of constructing a civilizing building. It is a neoclassical style building of Italian style theater, with a traditional structure in friezes, three orders of boxes, gallery and that contrasts with the Luigi Manini's curtain and the allegories of the ceiling. This theater is a true ex-libris of the culture of Viana and Alto Minho, has hosted the most important performances of music, theater, opera, dance and film in the region.
