The temple is located along the small Iversky Lane between Malaya and Bolshaya Ordynka. Previously, on the site of the Iversky church there was a wooden church of St. George the Great Martyr on Vspolye. The church stood behind the field, on the southernmost edge of the city. Traditionally, the arrival of the church consisted of rich noble families, merchant families were much smaller. By the end of the XVIII century, the building needed a restructuring. Soon the construction of a new stone church began, and the old church had to be dismantled. In 1802, the temple was built. The church was consecrated in honor of the Iberian Icon of the Mother of God, and the former chapel was renamed Georgievsky. The list from the famous icon of the Iberian Mother of God from the chapel at the Resurrection Gate was moved to the new church. This image of the Mother of God from old times was considered the Mother Protector of Moscow. Through the Resurrection Gates, the victorious warriors entered the Red Square. The bronze sign of the zero kilometer of Moscow is still located directly opposite the Iverskaya Chapel, which is filled with worshipers from early morning until late at night. In 1929, the church of the Iberian Icon of the Mother of God was closed. In the temple, the bell tower was broken down to the lower tier, the head with the cross was demolished, the fence was destroyed, additional windows were punched, wall paintings and frescoes were lost. There was not a single iconostasis left in the temple, and many icons were burned. The Iveron Church has undergone the present.

looted. In 1993, the church and its historic territory were returned to the Russian Orthodox Church. In 1994, church services began. Fortunately, the temple is now fully restored. The Church of the Iberian Icon of the Mother of God does not have such outstanding individual characteristics as, for example, the Church of the Sorrow, or the Church of Nikola in Wads, but it can be called a vivid example of Russian classicism.
