In front of you is the Alexandrinsky Theater. The Alexandrinsky Theater is the oldest drama theater in Russia. Now it is called the Academic Pushkin Drama Theater. The Alexandrinsky Theater begins its history with the decree of the Empress Elizabeth Petrovna on the creation of the Russian professional theater, published in 1756.
The theater building is one of the most beautiful and richest buildings in St. Petersburg. The Alexandrinsky Theater has been located here since 1832.
The building was designed by the famous architect Karl Rossi. The magnificent facade of the Alexandrinsky Theater combines antique columns and an attic decorated with the "Chariot of Apollo" - a symbol of the theater in general. The interior decoration of the theater's premises, the sparkling richness of the decoration, and the carefully selected scenery by professional artists also amazes the viewer.
