There is a collective microtoponym in St. Petersburg – “Color Bridges”.
One of them is in front of us – the Blue Bridge. There is a yellow bridge – The Pevchesky Bridge (literally Singers' Bridge) at the Palace Square, a green colored is The People’s Bridge at the corner of the Nevsky Prospect and The Red Bridge on Gorokhovaya street. All these four colored bridges are across the Moyka River. It is very easy to guess their names.
The Blue Bridge is a record-holder among the whole St. Petersburg bridges: this is the widest one in the city, its width on the outer envelope is over 97 meters.
If you look closely, you’ll see that granite obelisks are used as lamps, which are the copies of the lights on the bridge of Alexander III in Paris. In addition, the granite post-seamark with a trident of Neptune has black cut-offs: they show the water levels of the five greatest floods in St. Petersburg over the past 200 years.
