The bridge to Skeppsholmen

The island on the other side is called Skeppsholmen – the Ship’s Island. Both it and tiny Kastellholmen, which you will get to later, are a lot like islands you would find way out in the archipelago. Fairly untouched, surrounded by fresh sea. People come here to relax and enjoy themselves. It’s a great place for walking. The view of the water and the trees and a large portion of the city is nice, to say the least. And it’s a good place to have a meal: there are a couple of very good restaurants. Or, if the weather is nice, just bring a picnic and find a nice spot. And if you’re looking for culture you’ve come to the right place. Here, you’ll find some of the finest museums in town, as well as the hothouse growing next generation: the Royal Institute of Art. And there are places for theatre and contemporary dance of excellent quality. Once you’ve crossed the bridge, take the narrow gravel path leading left. Then walk along the water all the way until you reach another bridge, leading to Kastellholmen. You won’t miss it.
