Often called “Valhalla for cheese lovers”, The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills is a must visit for anyone who appreciates – or craves as in my case – exquisite cheeses. If truth be told, walking into the tiny artisan shop and being surrounded by tantalizing smells is akin to waking up and finding yourself in heaven.
Obviously, I’m a cheese addict.
But cheese is not all the tiny store carries. On hand are charcuterie (the craft of salting, smoking, and curing meats), wine, caviar, truffles, olive oils and all manner of specialty products as well as prepared culinary treats for take-out should you prefer to picnic in one of the many Beverly Hills parks.
For Norbert Emil Wabnig, a New Orleans native who has lived in LA since 1974 and been the Cheese Store of Beverly Hills owner, buyer and manager since 1978 the shop is a labor of love. At 64 years young, Wabnig’s face still lights up as he introduces customers to his newest finds or to an even more than usual special.
If you splurge, The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills will ship everything home for you … unless you want to eat it all now. Wine tasting and private dining events are available after hours.
Open:Monday through Saturday 10am-6pm (18.00) and Sunday 12 noon until 5pm (17.00).
Located at 419 North Beverly Drive just one block east of Rodeo Drive.
